First one is the hardest?

That’s what they always say, right? OK, so here goes!

Everything I’ve read says it’s ‘so easy’ to start a blog, ‘so easy’ to set up a website. Well, I’m not going to lie… there’s been a few bad words yelled at my screen during this process. The struggle was real. But I strongly suspect that it is my fault. I tend to be very tough on myself, and expect near-perfection. I also think I learn software programs pretty quickly for a 56 year old gal. As a result, I did not take the time to watch the tutorial videos or even read the basic how-to pages. I dove straight in, head first, assuming I could figure it out easily enough. Many hours over several days were spent trying to fix some early mistakes. As soon as I watched the tutorial, it started falling into place.

Alas, my loss is your gain. Words of advice: do the research. Take the time, do the legwork upfront, and save yourself time and effort (and stress!) on the back end, in any and all new endeavors.

As I finish this first short-but-oh-so-sweet post, on my couch with a few of my feline companions, I feel like I fought valiantly against the possessed computer and exorcised a demon. We will see what battles tomorrow brings. Now, to celebrate with a brownie. Oh, did I mention I love chocolate?
